While in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania — a town famously known for its Civil War battlefield and frequent ghost sightings — Rivera was found unresponsive in his hotel room after completing a full day of lectures and meet-and-greets. Emergency medical personnel responded quickly but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not found any signs of foul play, and early indications point to a natural or medical cause of death.
