Ingredients

For the Cake Base:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

½ cup vegetable oil

1 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup boiling water

For the Cream Filling:

1 cup heavy cream

3 tbsp powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Glaze:

½ cup dark chocolate chips

3 tbsp butter

2 tsp honey

Instructions

Prepare the Cake Base:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.

Slowly pour in the boiling water while stirring gently. The batter will be thin—this is normal.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.

Make the Cream Filling:

Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Once the cake is cool, slice it horizontally into two layers. Spread the cream filling evenly over the bottom layer, then place the top layer back on.

Prepare the Chocolate Glaze:

Melt chocolate chips and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in short intervals in the microwave. Stir in honey until glossy.

Pour the glaze over the cake, letting it drip naturally over the edges. Allow it to set for 15–20 minutes.
