BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies (30-Year Family Favorite)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  6. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are just set (they’ll continue to cook slightly after removing).
