Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are just set (they’ll continue to cook slightly after removing).
