The magic eraser, for delicate finishes
Much like a cleaning wand, a magic eraser can work wonders … as long as you use it sparingly. Lightly dampen it, then gently rub away the pen mark, targeting small areas. It’s ideal for smooth or varnished finishes, but be careful: too much can damage the coating. Use as a finishing touch or on less sensitive areas.
Dishwashing liquid and warm water: the gentle method
For lighter stains or furniture with a delicate finish, there’s no need to bring out the heavy artillery. A solution of mild dish soap and warm water (about one tablespoon to 75 ml of water ) may be enough. Soak a sponge, gently rub the stain, rinse with clean water, and then dry. It’s as easy as 1, 2, or 3, and poses no risk to your surfaces.
The right actions to prevent it from happening again
Because prevention is always better than cure, here are some habits to adopt on a daily basis:
Use a desk pad on desks or drawing tables.
Encourage the use of paper for creative activities (instead of furniture…).
Clean any marks as soon as they appear, before they dry.
