Introduction
There’s something universally comforting about fries—but when they’re wrapped in a crispy cheese crust, they become unforgettable. This recipe turns ordinary potatoes into a crave-worthy snack with a golden crunch on the outside and a soft, fluffy center. Perfect for movie nights, parties, or a special treat, these cheese-crusted fries are simple to make and bursting with flavor.
Ingredients
4 medium potatoes (russet or Yukon gold work best)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Optional: dried herbs (oregano or parsley)
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes:
Wash and peel the potatoes if desired. Cut them into evenly sized sticks for uniform cooking.
Season:
Place the potato sticks in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss until well coated.
Add the Cheese:
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the seasoned potatoes and gently mix so the cheese lightly coats the fries.
Bake to Perfection:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread the fries out in a single layer. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping once halfway, until the fries are golden and the cheese forms a crisp crust.
Finish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly so the cheese sets. Garnish with herbs if desired.
Serving and Storage Tips
Serve hot with ketchup, ranch, or a creamy garlic dip.
For extra crunch, enjoy them fresh from the oven.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to restore crispiness.
