Herbal Harmony Brew: Chayote, Garlic & Oregano Tonic for Everyday Metabolic Balance

Introduction

Across many traditional kitchens, simple plants have long been combined into gentle infusions meant to complement daily wellness routines. One such blend brings together chayote, garlic, and oregano—three humble ingredients valued for their natural compounds and refreshing flavor. This warm herbal drink is often enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle, especially by those looking to support healthy digestion, metabolic balance, and overall liver-friendly habits. While it is not a medical treatment, it can be a comforting addition to mindful nutrition.

Ingredients

1 medium chayote, washed and sliced (peel optional)

2 cloves of garlic, lightly crushed

1 teaspoon dried oregano or 1 tablespoon fresh oregano

3–4 cups water

Optional: a squeeze of fresh lemon (for flavor)

Instructions

Add the water to a saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil.

Add the sliced chayote and reduce heat to medium. Simmer for about 10 minutes.

Add the crushed garlic and oregano.

Continue simmering for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.

Turn off the heat, cover, and let steep for 5 additional minutes.

Strain the liquid into a cup. Discard the solids or reserve the chayote for another dish.
