Once you make them, don’t be surprised when everyone starts begging for the recipe!

Ingredients

For the Crust and Topping:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

For the Filling:

1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling (or homemade if preferred)

Optional Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp milk

½ tsp almond extract or vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Make the Batter:
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.

Add the Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until fully combined. The dough will be thick.

Assemble the Bars:
Spread about two-thirds of the dough evenly in the prepared pan. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the dough, spreading it gently to the edges. Drop the remaining dough in small spoonfuls over the filling.

Bake:
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.

Glaze (Optional):
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract. Drizzle over cooled bars for a beautiful finishing touch.

Slice & Serve:
Cut into squares or rectangles and serve. Watch them disappear in no time!
